Romero Canyon Trail

I had hoped to hike up to the Romero Pass at 6000 feet having tried it unsuccessfully three years ago. It is a 14 mile (22 KM) round trip and 3,300 feet elevation from the trail head.  It was a great day for hiking – about 10C, cooler higher up and sunny. Quite different from hiking in the Sooke Hills. (Emails from the WW hiking group of a January 3rd hike in -3C with wind chill of -8C – ice and snow – most unusual for Victoria). I did manage a 6 hour hike, about 12 KM I guessed before turning round. Actually the GPS recorded 17 KM and 754 Meter (2473 feet) ascent – no wonder my feet were beginning to feel a little sore. Many Saguaros  (pronounced Sag-ha-rous). Here are some pictures of the scenery.
